Harvard is known as the premier institution for higher learning in the U.S., if not in the world. It claims Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Matt Damon, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and countless others as it’s alumni. It has an endowment of 35.7 billion dollars, which would make it the 96th richest country in the world. And yet, despite being a place that is capable of bringing nothing but riches and success to anyone who goes there, it is still run entirely by idiots.
As many people have most likely seen in the news, Harvard is currently facing a strike from it’s dining hall workers. These workers, despite being employees of a school that had a $62 million budgeting surplus in 2015, are being asked to pay up to $4,000 dollars a year in medical co-pays, on top of premiums that take up about 10% of their salary.
This is insane.
Harvard is a school that has spawned, and employs, Noble Laureates, Presidents, Heads of State, and Supreme Court Justices. Countless breakthroughs have been made at this University. And yet it’s institutional head is so far up its rugby shirted ass that it recently asked student proctors to “pitch in” at the dining halls while the regular workers strike, instead of just paying them a fair wage. In case you forgot, Harvard has 35.7 BILLION dollars.
Most people already hate Harvard, either because they didn’t get in or because just about everyone who went there either was, or turns into, an elitist prig, but this is just making it worse. It’s one thing to inspire enmity because you’re the best; it’s another thing to bring it upon yourself because you’re a bunch of sheltered cultural elites who are shivering from a Reaganesque fear of “communist” unions and are completely blind to the problems of the working class. At least some of the students are protesting.
This is turning into a political relations disaster for Harvard. And the fix is right in front of their eyes, but they are just too stupid to see it. Their executives are probably too busy joining dining clubs and a cappella groups or whatever the fuck. Either that or they just think that dining employees don’t deserve to be treated like real people. I’ll let you decide which is worse.
Fuck Harvard. Do you really want to go to the same school fucking Matt Damon went too? Go to a state school, you’ll have a better time, learn just as much, and be a thousand times less pretentious.
